Virginia cops targeted in pipe bomb attacks
Law enforcement officials say they have identified a suspect in three bombings that targeted sheriff's detectives in Northern Virginia.
Laurence Alan Stewart II is wanted on charges of attempted capital murder of a law enforcement officer, and other charges.
Two of the bombings were targeted to kill a Stafford County detective and a Stafford County deputy, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office. An ex-girlfriend was also targeted in the blasts, officials said.
The homemade bombs were set off Tuesday morning at three separate residences, police said.
No one was injured.
Stewart, 25, is also wanted for indecent exposure, obscene sexual display and violation of protective order. He might be driving a red 2013 Hyundai Accent Sedan.
Anyone with information can contact the Stafford County Sheriff's Office at 540-658-4400.
An item on Wednesday's Crime & Punishment page about the Charles County Sheriff's Office seeking the perpetrator in a case of a woman using a stolen credit card had the wrong surveillance photo appear with it because the sheriff's office released the wrong photograph. Sheriff's deputies said they are trying to get photos of the correct perpetrator.
