Injured sailor rescued from vessel near Annapolis

A 64-year-old sailor was rescued from a boat near Annapolis on Saturday after sustaining injuries to his head, neck and back.

The Coast Guard reported that the man was rescued on the Severn River around noon after someone aboard the 22-foot vessel radioed for help.

Shortly after receiving the call, crews from the Coast Guard, the Maryland Natural Resources Police and the Anne Arundel County Fire Department reached the man and were able to get him to shore.

Officials have not revealed the man's identity or condition.
