Insiders who dismissed Rep. Ron Paul’s frequent runs for president have little support for his more moderate son, Sen. Rand Paul running for president in 2016. According to the National Journal’s “Political Insiders Poll” there is zero support for the libertarian-leading Republican Senator of Kentucky.

This could actually signal a positive sign for Paul’s chances in 2016, as his father’s supporters have little use for the opinions of Washington insiders.

The most popular choice among Republicans, was Sen. Marco Rubio – supported by 40 percent of the insiders polled by the Washington outlet.

But Democrats supported Former Florida governor Jeb Bush – not perhaps for his popular efforts on education and immigration but for his last name. Jeb Bush was second among Republican insiders at 27 percent.

Second place for Democrat insiders was Gov. Chris Christie, at 28 percent, who extended a bi-partisan branch to President Obama during the storm.

But Republicans only gave Christie 8 percent – with Rep. Paul Ryan and former Senator Rick Santorum coming in at 9 percent.
