House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., expressed some surprise at the manner in which CIA Director David Petraeus’ extramarital affair was discovered.

“Why someone would be personally indiscreet is their problem,” Pelosi told reporters during a press conference today. “Why somebody would do it in emails is beyond my imagination.”

Petraeus and his biographer-turned-mistress communicated via email. They reportedly drafted messages and saved them in a “dropbox” rather than send the message, in an attempt to leave a smaller cyber footprint.

“The honorable thing was done — the general has resigned,” she also said.
