Speaking to liberal activists yesterday, the Huffington Post reports that President Obama promised he would get out of Washington more often in his second term.

“One of my pledges for a second term is to get out of Washington more often because it is just good for my soul,” Obama said.

The President plans to leave Washington next week to tour Southeast Asia – including stops in Thailand, Myanmar and Cambodia.

Obama thanked activists for helping him get elected, but encouraged them to stay engaged as he tackled the fiscal cliff and pushed for higher taxes.

“So we are going to need you guys to stay active,” he said. “We need you to stick with us and stay on this.”
