Man accused of dragging girlfriend through a bonfire in Maryland

A 29-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly dragged his girlfriend through a bonfire in Anne Arundel County, police officials said.

Louis Vaden, of no fixed address, was charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault and related charges, court records show.

The incident occurred Monday morning in a wooded area behind the 6000 block of Ritchie Highway. A 30-year-old woman told police that Vaden assaulted her and dragged her through a bonfire after a verbal altercation.

The victim was taken to a hospital in stable condition, officials said. Vaden was later located at an address the 6000 block of Ritchie Highway and taken into custody.
