South Korea’s government has decided to strip Jill Kelley, the woman whose complaint about “threatening emails” began the FBI investigation that brought down CIA director David Petraeus, of her title as “honorary consul” following her attempt to claim ‘diplomatic protection’ during a 911 call.

“South Korean Deputy Foreign Minister Kim Kyou-hyun, on a visit [in Washington] for regular consultations with U.S. officials, cited Kelley’s efforts to use her title as South Korea’s honorary consul in Floria for personal gains,” Yonhap News Agency reports.

Kelley complained to 911 dispatchers about people trespassing on her property after the Petraeus story broke. “You know, I don’t know if by any chance, because I’m an honorary consul general, so I have inviolability, so they should not be able to cross my property,” she said, per Fox News. “I don’t know if you want to get diplomatic protection involved as well.”

David Petraeus resigned his post as CIA director the Friday after the election, citing an extramarital affair. The FBI learned of his affair with biographer Paula Broadwell after Kelley complained to an FBI friend of “threatening emails” which, it emerged had come from Broadwell. The emails were reportedly motivated by jealousy at the prospect of a relationship between Petraeus and Kelley.
