Conservative movement leaders are rallying behind embattled anti-tax-hike crusader Grover Norquist of Americans for Tax Reform.

Since the election, a trickle of Republican lawmakers have publicly said they would violate the no-tax-hikes pledge that Norquist’s ATR administers.

Many of the conservative movement’s eminences grises — including Ron Robinson of Young America’s Foundation, Becky Norton Dunlop of the Heritage Foundation, Mike Long of the New York State Conservative Party, and Don Devine of the American Conservative Union — have informally agreed to put their names to a statement of support for Norquist, ATR, and the “Taxpayer Protection Pledge.”

The early idea is that the ACU would quarterback the effort.
