Just think, it was a only a mere year ago when Newt and Callista Gingrich's book signing excursion to Mount Vernon was a major media draw in the midst of the GOP primaries. This holiday season, the couple is returning to the Shops at Mount Vernon for another book-centric event, which -- we imagine -- will be a much more laid back affair.

The Gingriches plan to pop by the shops on Dec. 15 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Callista Gingrich will be signing copies of her second children's book, "Land of Pilgrims' Pride," part of her Ellis the Elephant series. The former House speaker and presidential candidate came out with his latest work of historical fiction, "Victory at Yorktown: A Novel," last month and will be signing copies of that. Visitors will not have to pay Mount Vernon admission to attend the event.
