A 24-year-old Hyattsville man was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a 14-year-old boy in Lewisdale, police said.

Jose Luis Rodriguez-Nunez was taken into custody shortly after Wednesday's double shooting, and he was formally charged Thursday with second-degree murder and first-degree assault, according to Prince George's County police.

Early Wednesday morning, police went to the 2200 block of Sheridan Street and found two people suffering from gunshot wounds. They had been walking down the street with two other people when shots were fired at them from a vehicle.

One of the victims, 14-year-old Eliezer Benjamin Reyes, of Lewisdale, later died at a hospital. The other victim, a man, was treated and released at a hospital.

Police said Wednesday that they believed the incident was gang-related.
