On Meet the Press yesterday, Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich R-Ga. warned Republicans that they could easily lose to Hillary Clinton – should she run for president in 2016.

“If their competitor in ‘16 is going to be Hillary Clinton, supported by Bill Clinton and presumably a still relatively popular president Barack Obama, trying to win that will be truly the Super Bowl,” Gingrich said. “And the Republican Party today is incapable of competing at that level.”

Gingrich criticized the consultant culture amongst Republicans, which in his opinion was the reason that Republicans lost.

“We didn’t blow it because of Mitt Romney,” he said. “We blew it because of a party which has refused to engage the reality of American life and refused to take– to think through what the average American needs for a better future.”

Gingrich appeared more confident about the upcoming political futures of 30 Republican governors currently in office across America.

“There is a huge base of competency building out there,” Gingrich said. “And if the president’s not careful, by 2014, five or six of those state capitals are going to look a lot more competent than Washington, DC.”
