Navy and Notre Dame will play their 2014 game at FedEx Field, Navy and FedEx Field announced on Thursday. The Nov. 1 game will be the first time since 1998 that the teams have played in Landover.
“FedEx Field did a fine job of hosting the Army-Navy game (in 2011) and we are looking forward to another sold out event in 2014,” Navy athletic director Chet Gladchuk said.
Last fall the school announced that their annual series will extend to 2026. They have played every year since 1927 with a long history in NFL stadiums. The first meeting was at Memorial Stadium in Baltimore (1927) and the second was at Soldier Field in Chicago (1928).
These days the teams play every other year in South Bend, Ind. When it is Navy’s turn to host the game is farmed out to larger venues such as the Citrus Bowl in Orlando (2000), M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore (2002, 2008, 2006), the Meadowlands in New Jersey (2004, 2010) and Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland (2012).
