An employee at the Energy Department’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory called for “a murderous rampage” against the reporters who put a spotlight on the salaries of top officials at the green energy lab.

“Have you ever felt like going on a murderous rampage?” Kerrilee Ann Crosby tweeted, per Colorado Watchdog. “Start at @WatchdogCO ‘s offices. They perpetuate lies like this.” Colorado Watchdog, an investigative reporting team run by the Franklin Center, reported that “NREL’s top executive, Dr. Dan Arvizu, makes close to a million dollars per year. His two top lieutenants rake in more than half a million each and nine others make more than $350,000 a year.”

When the media outlet tweeted asking why she was advocating “mass murder,” Crosby replied, “Because you deserve to die.” Asked again if she advocates mass murder, Crosby said, “I DO! Especially since you are next door! I can’t remember where I left my gun, though. Found it!”

“We take threats of this nature very seriously and our staff’s safety is of the utmost importance,” Franklin Center president Jason Stverak told The Heritage Foundation. “However, no threat will ever stop us from doing our job as journalists and asking the tough questions to keep politicians and government officials accountable.”

NREL assured the Colorado Watchdog that Crosby “has been found in violation of NREL’s policy on social networking and appropriate action is being taken.”
