Montgomery County detectives are searching for a man who robbed a Silver Spring bank on Wednesday.

Surveillance photographs released by Montgomery County police show a man in line at the teller in the Capital One Bank branch located at 13301 New Hampshire Ave.

At about 5:30 p.m., the man passed the teller a note that implied he had a knife and demanded money. The teller complied, and the robber fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

It's unclear whether the man was actually armed -- a knife could not be seen in surveillance footage, according to police.

Police described the suspect as a black male with a light complexion, about 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall and weighing between 160 pounds to 170 pounds. The man was wearing a multicolored jacket and was carrying a bag slung around his right shoulder.

Anyone with information about the bank robbery is asked to contact the Montgomery County Police Department's major crimes section at 240-773-5100. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Solvers at 866-411-TIPS (8477).

Crime Solvers recently increased the cash reward for tips leading to an arrest or conviction from $1,000 to a maximum of $10,000.
