Politico reports that President Obama is scheduled to leave for his family vacation to Hawaii on Friday as House Speaker John Boehner works to negotiate a deal to avoid the fiscal cliff.

According to senior administration officials, the President has indicated that he will remain in Washington until Congress’s schedule is clear.

During the payroll tax cut extension negotiations last year, First Lady Michelle Obama and their two daughters traveled separately to Hawaii, while Obama waited to sign the extension.

The president was not asked about his vacation plans during his press conference this afternoon.
