White House Press Secretary Jay Carney appeared to suggest during a press briefing today, that FOX News reports on Benghazi were incorrect – based on the report released yesterday regarding the attacks.

Carney emphasized a part of the report that said that the response to the Benghazi attacks was timely and appropriate and that there was “no evidence” to show that there was a delay in the response from the White House.

FOX News reported after the attacks that according to their sources, “an urgent request from the CIA annex … was denied by the CIA chain of command — who also told the CIA operators twice to “stand down” rather than help the ambassador’s team when shots were heard.”

FOX News White House correspondent Ed Henry asked Carney if the four State Department officials that resigned yesterday were “taking the fall” for President Obama and Hillary Clinton even though they repeatedly said that the “buck” stopped with them.

“I’m not sure what you are suggesting, Carney replied, adding that the Secretary of State took the appropriate actions.

“There were some individuals that did a lot of reporting that turned out to be entirely false, based on the paragraph I just read, Ed.” Carney added testily, ” The facts in the report are the facts.”
