What is mistletoe good for (besides stealing kisses)?

The holiday plant may also enhance the effectiveness of chemotherapy, according to researchers at the University of Adelaide in Australia. It could even replace chemotherapy altogether as an alternative treatment of colon cancer, researchers found -- mistletoe extract can effectively combat colon cancer cells, and is gentler on healthy cells than chemotherapy treatment. Colon cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths in the United States, according to the U.S. National Library of Medicine.

Can you be fired for being too good-looking?

In some circumstances, yes, according to an Iowa Supreme Court ruling, which found a dentist who fired one of his assistants because she was an "irresistible attraction" and thus a threat to his marriage acted legally. The unanimous court decision came despite the fact that the employee, Melissa Nelson, had technically done nothing wrong other than be too great a temptation for Fort Dodge, Iowa dentist James Knight, who worried he may try to start an affair with Nelson. Nelson had worked for Knight for 10 years.
