Here’s this week’s Associated Press ballot of Kevin Dunleavy — Washington Examiner

1. Duke (11-0)

Best resume by far with five wins over ranked teams.

2. Louisville (11-1)

Play Kentucky on Saturday. Wildcats have won the last four meetings, including last year in Final Four, but have been ranked in top 11 in each. Now it’s Louisville’s turn to be the higher-ranked team.

3. Michigan (12-0)

Burke and Hardaway, Jr. the best backcourt duo in nation?

4. Arizona (11-0)

With Reggie Johnson (jammed thumb) out for Miami, Wildcats out-rebounded Canes 46-20 in Honolulu.

5. Kansas (10-1)

Freshman McLemore (22 points) rose in Columbus in Jayhawks first true road game.

6. Indiana (11-1)

Former Paint Branch and Mount St. Mary’s star Cliff Warren, now coach at Jacksonville (5-7), takes his shot at IU on Friday.

7. Missouri (10-1)

In win over Illinois, Oregon transfer Brown had 18 points, seven rebounds in first start.

8. Cincinnati (12-0)

Tough test with visiting New Mexico (12-1) on Thursday.

9. Syracuse (10-1)

No shame losing to Temple. As an unranked team, Owls have toppled top-10 teams each of last five years.

10. Ohio State (9-2)

Craft was 2-for-9 in loss to Kansas and is shooting 36 percent after hitting 50 percent last year.

11. Illinois (12-1)

Against Mizzou, no Braggin’ for Illini starting backcourt – 10 of 40 overall and 3 of 20 from arc.

12. Gonzaga (11-1)

Host formerly-ranked Baylor (8-2) and 7-1 freshman Isaiah Austin on Friday.

13. Florida (8-2)

Out-rebounded by the four-guard lineup of Kansas State, 36-27.

14. Butler (9-2)

Play at Vanderbilt (5-5) on Saturday.

15. Michigan St. (11-2)

Big Ten opener on New Year’s Eve at Minnesota.

16. San Diego State (11-1)

Interesting test against Arizona in Diamond Head title game on Christmas night.

17. Creighton (11-1)

McDermott a model of efficiency again – 87.3 percent FT, 54.9 percent FG, 50.9 percent from arc.

18. Notre Dame (12-1)

After winning 10 straight, in midst of 14-day layoff before playing Seton Hall on Jan. 5.

19. Minnesota (12-1)

Have gone 5-0 in December with all the wins by at least 13 points.

20. Georgetown (10-1)

Porter (13.2 ppg, 7.7 rpg) and Whittington (12.5 ppg, 7.4 rpg) are a unique pair of sophomore wings at 6-foot-8.

21. Pittsburgh (11-1)

In the Pitt/MEAC Challenge last week, Panthers walloped Bethune Cookman by 49 and Delaware St. 28.

22. VCU (9-3)

Nobody has better losses than Rams – Duke by 9, Mizzou by 3, and Wichita by 2.

23. Oklahoma State (10-1)

Host Gonzaga on New Year’s Eve.

24. N.C. State (9-2)

Leslie’s shooting says a lot about his improvement – 43.3 (freshman), 52.5 (sophomore), 60.4 this year.

25. Kansas State (9-2)

Nice win over Florida, but neutral-site losses to Gonzaga (16 points) and Michigan (14) also on resume.

Next six in no particular order

UNLV (10-1)

Maryland (10-1)

Kentucky (8-3)

Oregon (10-2)

Wichita State (11-1)

New Mexico (12-1)
