Update 3:38 p.m.: The man arrested at the Dupont Circle Metro station for a Friday morning bank robbery was also wanted for robbing another District bank on Wednesday afternoon, according to a spokeswoman from the FBI's Washington Field Office.

District police had been looking for a man, wearing what authorities described as a gold-colored coat, who robbed the Suntrust Bank at 900 17th Street NW at about 12:50 p.m. on Wednesday. Police described the suspect in that robbery as an older man, at least in his 50s, wearing faded blue jeans and purple latex gloves.

A photo posted on Twitter shows officers escorting a man wearing a similar-looking gold-colored hooded sweatshirt from the Dupont Circle station's south entrance on Friday morning. FBI spokeswoman Jacqueline Maguire confirmed the individuals were the same man.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police Department said he could not confirm the man arrested Friday morning was the suspect wanted for Wednesday's robbery, and had no more details about the arrest.

Police arrested a man who they say robbed a bank in Northwest Washington on Friday morning then tried to make his getaway on Metro.

Officers asked the transit agency to hold all trains for about eight minutes at the Dupont Circle station at about 10:05 a.m. while they searched a Silver Spring-bound Red Line train for a suspect wanted in connection with robbing a bank on K Street NW, according to Metro spokesman Dan Stessel.

The man was arrested without incident by police and Metro transit police. A photo posted on Twitter shows a man being escorted out of the station by police.
