A Woodbridge man has been arrested after being accused raping two women at a Springfield hotel.

Joshua T. Franklin, 24, was charged with two counts of armed robbery and two counts of forcible rape, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

The incident happened at about 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Extended Stay America hotel, located at 6800 Metropolitan Center Drive.

Franklin arranged to meet the women, ages 18 and 25, through an online service. Once at the hotel, he allegedly produced a gun, raped the women and ordered them to engage in other sex acts. Police spokeswoman Lucy Caldwell said that Franklin also allegedly took cash and other personal items from both women.

Officers were called to the hotel, tracked Franklin down and apprehended him as he tried to elude them.

Police are investigating whether this incident can be linked to similar cases in other jurisdictions.
