An Upper Marlboro day-care employee who admitted to kicking a 2-year-old boy has been arrested, police said.

Johnathan Desmond Cummings is charged with child abuse and second-degree assault, according to Prince George's County police. He was released on $35,000 bond.

On Monday, police went to a residential, unlicensed day care in the 13600 block of Wood Ember Drive and learned that Cummings assaulted a 2-year-old boy who was under his care. Parents had been alerted to the incident because a witness captured it on video, police said.

Cummings admitted to kicking the boy, and detectives believe that there may other victims of the employee.

The Maryland State Department of Education's Office of Child Care has issued the day care a cease-and-desist order and told the business' owners that they can not provide day care services until they have been properly licensed.
