Nothing will compare to the buzz in the air during the 2009 presidential inauguration, and frankly, the swearing-in of a sitting president entering his second term is never as big a deal. But this is a company town, and politics is the business.

While there are plenty of balls and galas requiring black-tie dress and a trillion-dollar coin to get in, there are other ways to get in on the fun. Here are some suggestions for inaugural fun in 2013:

Bayou Bakery -- Nothing says America like a hot dog. Bayou will offer its POTUS Dog for one day only on Monday. This features two Chicago-style all-beef hot dogs, topped with white onion, pickle spears, sun-dried tomatoes, pickled sport peppers, sweet pickle relish, mustard and celery salt. bayoubakeryva.com.

Belga Cafe -- Belga Cafe will have extended hours during inauguration weekend, serving brunch at 8 a.m. Saturday through Monday, and dinner served to 11 p.m. Friday through Monday. belgacafe.com.

ChurchKey -- Enjoy the Inaugural Brewers Ball at ChurchKey in D.C., featuring a bunch of artisan ales. $150. 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Monday. birchandbarley.com.

Glen Echo Park -- Here's an inaugural ball that won't set you over a "fiscal cliff." The Folklore Society of Greater Washington is holding an event in the Spanish Ballroom at Glen Echo Park. Casual dress. $20. 7:30 to 11 p.m. Monday. fsgw.org.

Mount Vernon -- George Washington's historic home is celebrating all weekend long. The 44th visitor through the gates will get a special gift from Friday through Monday, and you can take the oath of office on a reproduction of the Bible that Washington used. $17 for adults. mountvernon.org.

Red Derby -- Open for brunch on Monday with the ceremony on the big screen, followed by a celebration that evening. redderby.com.

Rock & Roll Hotel -- Check out the White House Party 2 at the Rock & Roll Hotel, featuring bands, DJs, artists, beer and more. $60 to $70. 9 p.m. Sunday. rockandrollhoteldc.com.

The State Theatre -- Skip the ritzy balls and head to the Grassroots Inaugural Gala and Fundraiser at the State Theatre. Enjoy music, dancing, food and drink while supporting the Arlington Food Assistance Center. $50. Doors at 7 p.m. and the party starts at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. thestatetheatre.com.
