Authorities are seeking information about a man who robbed a Loudoun County bank while wearing what appears to be a Mitt Romney mask.

On Dec. 13 at about 10:20 a.m., the robber entered the Wells Fargo bank on Community Plaza in Sterling. He brandished a gun and demanded cash, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money, he fled the scene, authorities said. No one was injured during the incident.

The male culprit was wearing the mask and a maroon Florida State sweatshirt during the robbery.

"When law enforcement is not able to collect surveillance footage from a robbery that clearly shows a subject's face it makes it more difficult to seek the public's assistance in identifying them," FBI spokeswoman Lindsay Godwin said.

Authorities do not believe that this incident is related to any other bank robberies in the area, Godwin said. There have been 17 bank robberies since Oct. 1 in Northern Virginia and the District that the FBI has been investigating.

Anyone with information can call authorities in Loudoun County at 703-777-0475 or 703-777-1919. People can also call the FBI at 202-278-2000.
