Why is New Jersey's guv heading west?

Gov. Chris Christie will be traveling to Palo Alto, Calif., where Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg will hold a fundraiser for the Republican at his house.

Zuckerberg has worked with Christie on education reform in the Newark, N.J., school system. Zuckerberg in 2010 announced he would give $100 million to help Newark's schools.

Christie, 50, had raised $2.1 million for his re-election bid through December.

Who is Mary Lee?

Mary Lee is a 16-foot great white shark. She has been traveling up and down the East Coast since she was tagged on Sept. 17 off Cape Cod, and on Tuesday was off the southern coast of Virginia. Weighing 3,456 pounds, she is being tracked by the Ocearch Global Shark Tracker, along with 35 other sharks. To see where Mary Lee has visited, go to sharks-ocearch.verite.com.

Why is there so much smog in Greece right now?

It's being caused by an abundance of Greeks using their wood-burning fireplaces to keep warm. Greece changed its fuel taxes so that heating oil now costs about 40 percent more than last winter. That has prompted Greeks to start burning wood, because it's just as warm as heating oil and much cheaper. In Athens, officials have warned of severe health risks from the low-lying smog, particularly at night when fireplaces are burning at full blast in poorly insulated homes. Other problems include illegal loggers chopping through forests and an increase in fires caused by poorly attended fireplaces and wood stoves.
