Former President George W. Bush, continuing to show support for the troops, just had his Ford F-150 pickup auctioned, raising $300,000 for Fisher House, the group that builds "comfort homes" to house families visiting troops at military hospitals around the world.

The cream-colored SuperDuty pickup was purchased after W left office and was driven only on his Crawford, Texas farm, never on Texas roads, according to Bush's office.

Rick Hendrick, the famous NASCAR team owner whose drivers include Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jimmie Johnson, purchased the pickup at the 42nd Annual Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction.

Bush jazzed up the truck by signing the dashboard and said in a statement before the sale, "In supporting Fisher House, you are supporting our veterans. And in supporting our veterans, you're helping America."

Ken Fisher, who chairs Fisher House, said, "President Bush is a great patriot, and someone who has been a strong advocate for our military and their families for years. We are honored to have his support and appreciate his friendship."

This is sort of a repeat for Bush at the famous car auction that draws millions on TV. Fisher House said that a New Holland tractor owned by Jay Leno and signed by Bush drew $535,000 last year at the auction, the proceeds also going to Fisher House Foundation.
