He's been a wild and crazy guy for decades, but this might be his most daring move yet: Steve Martin is a first-time father at age 67.
It's been an irony of Steve's career that the consummate on-screen dad never had kids of his own, but the star of "Planes, Train and Automobiles," "Father of the Bride" and "Parenthood" is indeed only now entering parenthood. His rep confirms to Us Weekly that "Steve Martin and his wife are new parents and recently welcomed a child." The wife in question is 41-year-old former New Yorker writer Anne Stringfield, who, incidentally, bears a striking resemblance to Steve's onetime fling Kristin Davis -- I guess we know the man's type.
We also know he's very private. The kid, whose sex remains unknown, was born back in December. "They've had a baby, and how they kept it a secret nobody knows," a source tells the New York Post. Even his wedding was a secret. Guests including Tom Hanks and Diane Keaton were invited over in 2007 for what they thought was just another party at Steve's place.
Either way, this news explains Steve's tweet Monday of "Coo coo, cutsy wootsy, footsy pie," which he followed up with "My recent dada Tweet was admired by the artistic community," in a pun on the Dadaist movement. Because explaining it always makes it funnier.
Kim, Kanye snarled by TSA
It seems no one is beyond the grasp of the Thousands Standing Around.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, returning to Los Angeles from Brazil, where they were vacationing with Will Smith, had just taken their seats on a connecting flight in New York when a Transportation Security Administration agent yanked them off their plane.
But don't worry, K&K aren't wearing underwear gussied up with firecrackers. Turns out the incident was the fault of the airline, which gave Kimye special treatment. "An airline employee escorted the two travelers through a non-public area in order to provide expedited access to their domestic flight," the TSA tells its sister organization TMZ. "In doing so, the airline employee violated security protocols by permitting the travelers to by-pass the TSA security checkpoint. TSA officials learned of the violation and conducted a private screening of the two passengers in the area of the jetway."
Suspiciously, though, the private screening took almost an hour. Just admit it, TSA -- you don't think Kim and Kanye are terrorists, you just wanna look at Kim in your weird "naked" scanners.
"He can go to hell."
- Jenny McCarthy, telling E! News what she thinks of film critic Rex Reed. In his infamous review of "Identity Thief," the New York Observer writer called star Melissa McCarthy "tractor-sized" and "a female hippo." Turns out Jenny isn't speaking up just cuz McCarthys gotta stick together. She and Melissa are cousins. Who knew?
