When a Robert Griffin III tweet about his new advertisement included the phrase #allinforweek1, a mini-eruption occurred on Twitter. And that compelled Griffin to follow up with more tweets, calming the nerves of fans worried about a hurried comeback.

He tweeted, “Feel like I need to say this..Although my goal is to start Week 1, that doesn’t mean I will compromise my career to do so.”

And he later tweeted, “Starting Week 1 will be the result of healing, hard work, dedication (and) God’s anointing. No rush, just determination.”

All Griffin did in the ad for adidas is read the script, bench press a little and perform a rope drill while seated. Other athletes performed drills that required running or jumping.

In the ad, Griffin does not reference his surgically-repaired knee. Rather, he’s talking about any successes or failures he – or any player – had in 2012.

He said: “Blow up last season. Every win.  Every loss. Every headline. Blow it all up. Cause all that matters is what you do next.”

Griffin, of course, is recovering from offseason knee surgery – he needed his right anterior cruciate ligament reconstructed and his lateral collateral ligament and medial meniscus repaired.

Other doctors familiar with the type of surgery he needed have said a six-to-eight month recovery is reasonable. That would allow him to be ready for the season opener. And last week general manager Bruce Allen said Griffin was “on schedule or ahead of schedule.” But even Allen said there’s no way to know for sure when Griffin will return, saying, “This will be an ongoing thing throughout the summer.”
