A 37-year-old Potomac man is in critical condition after the car he was driving crashed into a school bus.

Kent Behzad Karimi was driving his 2012 Chevrolet Equinox in the northbound lanes of Clopper Road in Gaithersburg and was stopped to make a left-hand turn when a van crashed into him. Karimi's vehicle was pushed into the southbound lanes of Clopper Road, and a county school bus struck the passenger side of the vehicle.

A fourth vehicle driving northbound on Clopper Road was unable avoid hitting the van that hit Karimi, and she lost control of her car, causing it to strike a concrete bus stop area on the side of the road.

The six students on the bus, the bus driver, the driver's aid and the woman driving the fourth vehicle were all transported to a local hospital, but did not have any serious injuries. The driver of the van was unharmed.

Police said the circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation.
