President Obama has long been a dedicated supporter of corporate welfare for the politically connected ethanol industry, and his latest appointee, Gina McCarthy to run the EPA, has that industry applauding:

Tom Buis, CEO of Growth Energy, said McCarthy was a strong supporter of biofuels and Growth Energy looked forward to working with her. “President Obama has made an outstanding choice in his decision to nominate Gina McCarthy to be the next Administrator of the EPA,” he said.

The Renewable Fuels Association said it considered McCarthy to be a solid choice for the position. “She is knowledgeable, willing to listen, and straight-forward,” said Bob Dinneen, president and CEO of RFA. “She knows the EPA inside and out and has typically approached challenges with a common-sense determination to resolve them in a timely manner.”

Brooke Coleman, executive director of the Advanced Ethanol Council, said McCarthy was a perfect choice.
