Political types like former Sens. Tom Daschle, D-S.D., Trent Lott, R-Miss., and former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm spent time in Los Angeles this week as the D.C.-based Bipartisan Policy Center launched its brand new Commission on Political Reform. And just in case Hollywood was confused about its necessity, former Idaho Gov. Dirk Kempthorne put things in pop culture terms. "I really think American politics today has migrated from an NFL atmosphere to 'Hunger Games,' " he pointed out. "Even in the NFL, an athlete will reach down and lift their opponent back up. In 'Hunger Games,' you make sure your opponent is never ever capable of getting up again."
