White House: Obama will submit his budget two months past legal deadline

President Obama’s spokesman, in the midst of attacking the Paul Ryan budget released this week, revealed today that a budget from the White House will appear — next month.

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said that Obama would submit the budget “probably the week of April 8th, I expect.” By law, Obama was supposed to submit the budget by the first Monday in February (which fell on February 4 this year).

Kevin Smith, a spokesman for House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, noted recently that Obama is in the midst of “the  longest budget delay of any incumbent president in the 90-year history of presidential budgets.”

Carney also confirmed that the president’s “balanced approach” to budgeting will not produce a budget that actually balances.
