A 23-year-old man was shot and killed in Prince George's County in an incident that appears to be gang-related, police said.

The victim, Erick Amilicar Mendez-Orellana, was walking to his home in the 4900 block of Marlboro Pike in Capitol Heights at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday when the incident occurred. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to Prince George's County police.

Mendez-Orellana has ties to the 18th Street gang, police spokesman Lt. Bill Alexander said. Witnesses told police that they saw two people fleeing the scene of the shooting, but a description of the possible suspects was not available.
