The government of Alberta, Canada took out an advertisement in the Sunday New York Times this weekend to plug the Keystone XL pipeline which, if approved, would run from Alberta to Texas.

“Keystone XL: The Choice of Reason,” the ad declares. It goes on to detail how the United States’ goals for jobs, energy security, clean technology and a strong environment mirror Alberta’s.

The ad cites the State Department’s report that found the pipeline would not have a significant environmental impact.

“Yet some still argue Keystone should be decided on emotion rather than science and fact about Canada’s responsibly developed oil sands resource,” it says.

During a meeting with House Republican leaders last week, President Obama said only Canada would get wealthy from the pipeline.

“He said there were no permanent jobs, and that the oil will be put on ships and exported and that the only ones who are going to get wealthy are the Canadians,” Rep. Lee Terry told the Associated Press.
