Takoma Park police are seeking information about a man who robbed a bank there last week.

On March 12 at about 3:20 p.m., police went to the SunTrust Bank on Laurel Avenue because an alarm at the business had been activated.

An investigation found that the culprit had given a bank teller a note that demanded money, and the teller complied with the robber's request. A weapon was not seen during the robbery, police officials said.

The robber then fled the bank on foot and was seen heading toward the District, officials said. A Montgomery County police K9 tried to track the robber but was unable to find him.

The robber was described as a black male who is about 5 feet 1 inches to 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighing 120 to 130 pounds. He was last seen wearing black pants, a red shirt, a black military-style sweater, a black tactical vest, a black ski hat and black reading glasses.

Anyone with information can call Takoma Park police at 301-270-1100. People can also text a tip to 847411 and should start the message with "TPPDTIP."
