A Manassas woman was charged with felony child endangerment after her two young children were found wandering a neighborhood.

The boy, 5, and girl, 3, were found walking on the 8300 block of Irongate Way about 10:20 a.m. Friday. The person who found the children took them to nearby Westgate Elementary School and called police.

Officers spotted the mother walking in the same area about 45 minutes later.

Police said the mother, Esmeralda Acosta Montoya, had locked the children in a room and left them unsupervised for about two hours. Acosta, 28, was charged with two counts of felony child endangerment and was released on $4,500 bond.
