Rep. Thomas Massie R-Ky., a rumored primary challenger to Sen. Mitch McConnell, has told Tea Party activists not to waste their time challenging the Senate Minority leader in 2014.

“My advice to people who are frustrated with Washington is that there’s probably a better way to spend your time, effort, money, blood, sweat and tears than trying to have Senator McConnell unelected. I think there are a lot better chances and better use of your time in terms of changing Washington, D.C.,” Massie explained last week in an interview with Louisville radio station WFPL.

Massie aligns himself with the unofficial “wacko bird” caucus, together with Rep. Justin Amash R-Mich., Sen. Ted Cruz R-Texas, and Sen. Rand Paul R-Ky.

“We need to come up with a wacko bird call,” Amash joked last week during an event with Massie.
