District police have arrested suspects in two assaults early Sunday morning.

The first, just before 3 a.m. on the 500 block of T Street Northwest, occurred when two men got into an argument with the black male suspect, according to Metropolitan Police spokesman Officer Anthony Clay. The suspect allegedly stabbed one man in the neck and right hand, the other in the back and arm. Both men were taken to a nearby hospital.

The second assault occurred at roughly 4:30 a.m. at a home on the 1300 block of Ridge Place Southeast.

Police believe the male suspect was trying to harm himself with a knife, Clay said. When a man and a woman -- both residents of the home where the assault occurred -- tried to stop him, he started threatening the two with the knife. No one was injured, and the suspect was still holding the knife when police arrived.

Neither suspect had been charged as of Sunday afternoon so police were unable to release their names.
