The FBI has released surveillance photos of a man who robbed a bank near the bureau's headquarters.
The heist occurred at about 10:45 a.m. Friday at the Capital One bank at 701 Pennsylvania Ave. NW. That's just two blocks from the J. Edgar Hoover Building, home to the FBI's headquarters. It's also not far from the FBI's Washington Field Office, which is investigating the crime along with D.C. police and Metro Transit police.
During the incident, a man entered the bank and passed a teller a note that demanded money. After he received an undisclosed amount of currency, the robber fled the bank and headed toward a nearby Metro station, authorities said.
The robber is described as a black man in his 40s who is about 5 feet 8 inches tall. He was wearing a black Oakland Raiders baseball cap that was discarded after the robbery.
