"The Zoo will run a paternity analysis if a cub is born."

- The National Zoo in a press release on Monday. No April Fools' Day joke here: The zoo has been choreographing an artificial insemination process for their beloved giant panda Mei Xiang since her 6-day-old cub died last September. Knowing the public's insatiable interest in pandas, the zoo released a TMI statement explaining how zoo staff using various forms of semen -- fresh, frozen and thawed -- from two different male pandas have inseminated Mei Xiang. If the blessed event does happen later this year, the daddy could be either Tian Tian, a male panda who lives at the same zoo, or Gao Gao, from San Diego.
