A retired D.C. police officer shot and killed a man who was trying to enter his Calvert County home, according to media reports, and a second would-be home invader fled the scene.
At about 10:30 p.m. Sunday, the officer heard people banging on the front door of his home on Harlequin Court in Huntingtown. The officer grabbed a handgun, answered the door and found two men there.
The men moved aggressively toward the officer, and one them brandished a weapon. Fearing for his life, the officer fired shots in self-defense, authorities reported to the media. One of the men was killed, and the other was able to flee in a vehicle that may have been hit by bullets.
