Drivers can try out the 495 Express Lanes for free this weekend.
The lanes won't charge a toll or require an E-ZPass Saturday and Sunday, officials announced this week.
The move is part of an educational campaign to teach people how to use the lanes, a spokeswoman said.
The company that operates the lanes, Transurban, recently kicked off a new advertising campaign to promote the lanes online, in print and on the radio.
Officials said the new campaign wasn't related to the $11.3 million the lanes lost in their first six weeks of operation.
