Woman killed in Prince George's County house fire is identified

A woman who was killed in a Cheverly house fire on Sunday has been identified as 59-year-old Stephanie Kay Syslo.

Prince George's County fire officials responded to the fire at a two-story home in the 2400 block of 59th Place around 8 a.m. Sunday, and found Syslo on the second floor. The was taken out of the home and pronounced dead.

The cause of death included smoke inhalation and burns.

The cause of fire remains under investigation, but it appears to be accidental.

Fire investigators found a smoke alarm inside thee home, but the alarm did not go off because it did not have a battery, officials said.
