Civil War buffs can lend a hand to preserve history on Saturday by volunteering with the Civil War Trust's annual Park Day.

The organization needs volunteers for its annual effort to clean up Civil War battlefields and other areas of the historic sites. Tasks may range from removing trash to painting, weeding and trail maintenance, and volunteers will receive T-shirts or patches.

Sites participating in the spring clean-up include 25 battlefields in Maryland and Virginia, including Antietam National Battlefield in Sharpsburg, Md.; Monocacy National Battlefield in Frederick, Md.; Ball's Bluff Battlefield Regional Park in Leesburg, Va.; and Bristoe Station Battlefield Heritage Park in Bristow, Va.

More information about volunteer sites is available at here.
