In its effort to protect the first family and staff during the annual White House Spring Garden Tours, the Secret Service is barring visitors from bringing in "any pointed object."

The service, however, isn't giving hints on whether that means visitors won't be allowed to bring in pens or pencils.

In announcing the annual garden tours April 13 and 14, the White House provided a list of items barred inside its iron gates:

Aerosols of any kind

Animals (except guide dogs)

Backpacks (oversized)

Balloons

Food or beverages of any kind

Duffle bags/suitcases

Any pointed object

Electric stun guns

Fireworks/firecrackers

Insulated metal containers

Guns/ammunition

Knives of any kind

Mace

Tobacco
