A man tried to kill himself at Metro's Rosslyn station on Sunday but a train operator was able to stop the train without fatally injuring him, according to Metro.
The man climbed down from the platform around 10:30 a.m., then laid down on the tracks in the path of an oncoming Blue Line train, a Metro spokesperson said after the incident.
The operator saw the man, however, and pulled the train's emergency brakes. Contact with the man was made, but the injury sustained was "less severe," the spokesperson said.
Blue Line trains were single-tracking between Arlington Cemetery and Foggy Bottom and Orange Line trains were single-tracking between Clarendon and Foggy Bottom for about an hour following the incident.
Both lines had resumed normal service by 11:43 a.m.
