Spotlight on the weekend, May 3-5

CINCO ALL WEEKEND

Of the many places we think about when planning our Cinco de Mayo festivities, the spots that come to mind first are chef Richard Sandoval's Latin-fusion eateries Masa 14, El Centro D.F. and Zengo. What makes that an even easier decision for us is that each restaurant will be offering $5 margaritas Friday through Sunday, but don't expect to find the same margaritas at each location.

Masa 14 (1825 14th St. NW) will showcase Mexico's favorite tequila with the classic margarita and special lychee and strawberry flavors. It's neighbor, El Centro D.F. (1819 14th St. NW), will offer it's own flavors, including spicy mango and vanilla, but will also be serving up authentic Mexican comfort fare on Sunday to pair with your refreshing libations. At Zengo (781 Seventh St. NW), you'll find a variety of margarita flavors, but we're more excited about the amazing food specials, like the Cinco Platter and the Queso Fundido.

FOOD & WINE

We're happy to announce the return of the annual National Harbor Wine & Food Festival this Saturday and Sunday. This wonderful summer tradition brings together celebrity chefs, artisanal craftsmen, culinary pioneers, jazz, and wine and spirits from around the world. This year, there will be more than 150 international wines and craft beer for you to taste. There will also be a slew of special appearances by our favorite D.C. chefs, including Bryan Voltaggio of Range and Volt restaurants, Erik Bruner-Yang of Toki Underground, Mike Isabella of Graffiato (and soon-to-open G and Kapnos, both on 14th Street NW) and Scott Drewno of the Source.

And for those of you foodies, we recommend checking out the VIP Pier, which will offer restaurant tastings from a number of gourmet establishments.

Tickets are now on sale for one-day and two-day passes. Go to wineandfoodnh.com for more info.
