Four-year-old killed in Alexandria collision

A four-year-old boy was killed when he was struck by a vehicle in Alexandria.

Police said the boy ran into the street at about 11:05 a.m., on Saturday, on the 1600 block of Stevenson Avenue.

An 84-year-old man was driving eastbound on the street when the boy ran into the road. The boys mother ran after him and they were both struck by the car.

Both were transported to the hospital, where the boy was pronounced dead. The mother sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The driver remained on the scene.
