A Tanzanian man who was caught with about seven pounds of heroin in his suitcase at Washington Dulles International Airport has been sentenced to four years in prison, according to court records.

Omar Mohammad Omar, 40, pleaded guilty to importing heroin in February and was sentenced recently in federal court in Alexandria.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers inspected Omar's luggage after he had arrived at Dulles from Qatar in October and discovered four packages that contained heroin. The drugs have an estimated street value in the D.C. area of $325,000, according to court documents.

After he finishes his sentence, Omar will be deported and will not be allowed to return to the United States, a document filed by the defense stated.
