A hole-in-one is once in a lifetime. But with his hole-in-one during a round of golf with President Obama Monday, Sen. Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., joined an even more exclusive club.

A White House official said that Chambliss aced the par-three, 11th hole at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland, punctuating the GOP team’s victory over Obama on the links.

Chambliss and Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., teamed up to take on Obama and Sen. Mark Udall, D-Colo. The president had the highest handicap of the group and Udall, the lowest. The White House did not provide an exact score.

The group didn’t talk much about work, according to a White House official.

“The president enjoyed the chance to spend some time on the golf course with the senators,” the official said in a read out of the match to reporters.  “Most of the talk centered on the round of golf and not the latest round of legislative negotiations in Congress.  The president was pleased that the rain held off, despite the damp forecast.”

The golf outing was the latest extension of Obama’s so-called charm offensive to win over Republican lawmakers. Obama dined with Republican lawmakers four times in recent weeks.
