A Southeast D.C. pediatrician has been charged with possessing child pornography, court papers show.

Robert Paul Dickey had been viewing a website with graphic images of children when authorities entered his office Wednesday to execute a search warrant, according to a charging document. The doctor also admitted to law enforcement during the search that he regularly visits child porn websites and downloads pornographic images.

Law enforcement were alerted to Dickey's interest in child porn in April, when they received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that the doctor had uploaded about 14 child-porn images. Most of the images were of naked, prepubescent girls, and others were of grown men having sex with girls and children performing sex acts on men, according to the court document.

When authorities searched Dickey's home and pediatrician's office in the 1600 block of 38th Street SE Wednesday, they seized electronics that included a desktop computer and an additional hard drive. The hard drive allegedly included images of child pornography and images of scantily-clad children that police called "child erotica."

Dickey had been scheduled to see about 20 patients on Wednesday, but the doctor's office was dirty and messy. When law enforcement searched the home, they also discovered that Dickey has two grandsons living at his home: a infant and a boy who is about 9 years old, a court document stated.
